Dr. Wayne Fowler


Dr. Fowler is an optometrist with more than fifteen years of experience providing primary eye care and general medical eye care, as well as contact lens evaluations, fittings, and consultations, in the Boston and Merrimack Valley Massachusetts areas. Dr. Fowler has had intensive training and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of many types of ocular pathology, in the pre- and post-operative care in management of cataract, LASIK, glaucoma and cornea transplant patients.

As an associate to a neuro-ophthalmologist, Dr. Fowler became familiar examining and treating with patients who have experienced neurological deficits related to stroke, diabetes, multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer’s. In the overall goal to create and maintain optimal ocular health in functioning Dr. Fowler is dedicated to providing a comprehensive, superior level of patient care.

Education Dr. Fowler holds the Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. After earning his O.D. degree,
Dr. Fowler completed residency training in ocular disease and hospital-based optometry at the Veteran’s Administration Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He has been certified in the administration in therapeutic pharmaceutical agents since 1999. Dr. Fowler is also a summa cum laude graduate of Bridgewater State College where he earned his B.A. degree in Psychology.

Staff Appointments: Dr. Fowler is a staff optometrist and contact lens specialist at Charles River Eye Associates and the Boston Ocular Surface Center. He is also a staff optometrist at the Carpenter’s Union Vision Center in Dorchester, MA.

Teaching Experience: While a resident Dr. Fowler served as an educator to fourth-year optometry interns at the University of Indiana Optometry School in Bloomington, Indiana, and to first-year ophthalmology residents at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky

Honors & Awards: Dr. Fowler was awarded the American Optometric Student Association (AOSA) Scholarship and has been recognized by the Lion’s Club for his volunteer services.

Clinical & Research Goals: Dr. Fowler’s clinical and research goals are the development of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in primary and specialized eye care. Recently, Dr. Fowler joined Charles River Eye Associates and the Boston Ocular Surface Center to further his clinical and research goals.
